The Clarence Concert Association is dedicated to enriching the cultural life of our community by presenting the Clarence Summer Orchestra, a professional ensemble that brings exceptional pops and classical music to the citizens of Clarence free of charge. Through the generosity of local donors and businesses, we ensure that live orchestral music remains accessible to all, fostering a tradition of family-friendly performances in the heart of Clarence Town Park. As we celebrate our 67th consecutive season under the leadership of Music Director Nick DelBello, we remain committed to inspiring audiences, supporting professional musicians, and preserving this cherished musical tradition for generations to come.
The Clarence Summer Orchestra has performed under the direction of only three conductors: Dr. Joseph Wincenc, Professor of Music at Buffalo State College, for 38 years, Mr. Arie Lipsky for 19 years, and now Nick DelBello since 2019.
Employing 55-60 professional musicians, the orchestra has been able to present varied musical selections which have delighted musical novices and knowledgeable music fans alike. Some performances have included Mozart Symphonies, Gershwin, Copland, Broadway musical tunes, opera excerpts, piano concertos, violin concertos, many established and modern composers and music dedicated to children. Many concerts have showcased soloists of international stature, such as flutist-Carol Wincenc, violinist-Elmar Oliveira, classical guitarist-Jason Vieaux.
